The US company, which is the world’s leading sowing and planting machinery manufacturer, plans to open a plant in Vilnius region in autumn, unofficial sources have told BNS. The facility would be Kinze’s first factory abroad.

The executives of Kinze Manufacturing met with Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius on Tuesday to present their investment plans.

Kinze Manufacturing, which plans to make investments in Vilnius, intends to launch operations as early as in June and to create around 250 jobs within five years.

The company is to invest around 22 million litas (EUR 6.4m) in Lithuania, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has said on Tuesday.

“The company plans to open the first line in June. Once it implements its plans in full, it intends to employ around 250 people. It plans to invest a total of 22 million litas,” he told reporters after the meeting with Kinze Manufacturing’s executives.

Susanne Kinzebaw, Kinze Manufacturing vice-president, told reporters that this was company’s first investment abroad.

“We looked at many countries, many cities and specifically chose Vilnius. There is a building that met our needs very well, was equipped, where we can essentially set up and get our operations started right away on a very aggressive timeline. The availability of the workforce is very important to us and we believe there is a great workforce here in Vilnius,” she said.
