Vilnius named most dangerous capital city in EU

With 7.9 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is named the most dangerous capital city in the EU, Eurostat says in a report.

The statistics agency has conducted a comprehensive study based on the number of homicides and kidnappings in the 27 member states of the European Union.

Estonia's Tallinn follows in second place with 6.03 murders and Luxemburg City is in third place (4.24 murders).

Helsinki, Madrid, Roma and Vienna are among the safest capitals in the EU, the report suggests.

Malta’s capital city Valetta is the safest capital in the bloc with zero murders or abductions in the past couple of years, bTV reports, quoted by news agency Focus.
