A lot has been made of Kristaps Porzingis' first matchup with Dirk Nowitzki. It's understandable; after Rik Smits, the most common pre-draft comparison for Kristaps was, in fact, Dirk. Well, maybe he was the third most common comparison after Rik and Chuck Nevitt. Hard to keep track of that sort of stuff. Anyway, yeah, they're kind of similar as players, a little bit.
For me personally, I just viewed it as another game where Kristaps can abuse a bad defender and score lots of points. That's pretty much my only reason for watching the NBA anymore, to see KP put balls in holes. Dirk is just another indistinguishable cog in the NBA machine to me, as is Carmelo, and Zaza, and Zaza's shoulder zits.
