Amber Grid can be among most attractive stocks on Vilnius bourse, analyst believes

A Finasta analyst says that Amber Grid, a new company into which Lietuvos Dujos is spinning off its gas transmission activity, can be one of the most attractive stocks on the Vilnius stock exchange, the business daily Verslo Žinios reports.

"If Amber Grid doesn't have to make any special investments, the company is likely to be one of the more attractive dividend paying companies on the Vilnius bourse," it quoted Tadas Povilauskas as saying.

The analyst said that a minority buyout offer could be launched for shares in the new company.

"Amber Grid is quite an interesting issue, but where there is politics, there is also a risk that small investors will be disregarded. However, since E.ON Ruhrgas International and Gazprom will each have more than 33.3 percent of shares in Amber Grid, during the ownership change, a tender offer to buy shares from small shareholders will be announced. So, there should be no fall in the price of the shares in the market," he said.

The unbundling of Lietuvos Dujos' transmission pipelines into Amber Grid is to be completed by July 31.

Germany's E.ON Ruhrgas International currently owns 38.9 percent of shares in Lietuvos Dujos, Russia's Gazprom holds 37.06 percent and the Lithuanian Energy Ministry holds 17.7 percent.

Lietuvos Dujos is quoted on the blue-chip Main List of the NASDAQ OMX Vilnius stock exchange.
