Moreover, Andres Tropp, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Manager at Eesti Energia, believes that it is not clear whether the new nuclear facility will be profitable.
“I should say that Eesti Energia agrees with Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius’ opinion that this project currently is not economically sustainable,” he said at the energy forum hosted in Vilnius on Wednesday.
Later he told BNS that information about the project available to the company was insufficient.
“We have too little information, we need more information. I cannot say whether this project will be profitable in ten years after the construction of the power plant, if we were to start building it now. We are short of essential information now. We have too many questions, to which we have no answers,” Tropp told BNS.
At the same time, he said that he doubted whether it was necessary to establish a joint venture for the nuclear facility project.
“We have not received any information so far. Why is there an intention to establish a joint Baltic venture for this project? What will be the structure of this company? What are the expectations related with the establishment of this company? We have insufficient information. We have no information about that at all,” Tropp said.
