Asked by the Verslo Žinios daily to express Estonia’s opinion about Lithuania’s project on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Visaginas, he said: “Estonia believes that the company shall make up its mind. It has been going on for more than seven years but nothing has been done. The project was delayed, discontinued and reopened. In the beginning it was Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Poland was added later. Then it was the project without Poland once again. Then we hear talks about a joint venture, yet later this idea is dropped. All this has led to a major irritation. Not to speak about the referendum…”
The same could be said about the Rail Baltica project, Estonia’s President said.
“Estonia has completed its part of Rail Baltica. A couple of years ago Estonia’s part was 95 percent done, Lithuania’s – 5 percent, and Latvia’s, 0 percent. We have already purchased brand new modern trains. I don’t know what stage the other countries have reached already. Rail Baltica was a chance to do something really important,” he said.
