The bank started looking for corporate customers in Lithuania in March. The bank’s representative, Alexander Vasilyev, told the news portal that this was the bank’s first step in the Baltic countries as it sought to see the response to such an offer.
“Interest rates, which we offer to your companies, are bigger than the rates offered to companies active in Belarus, which is the outcome of the deposit policy implemented by the central bank of Belarus. It is cheaper for us to raise money from Lithuania than from local businesses since we have to pay to the central bank for their deposits,” he said.
According to the representative, the bank’s website recorded many hits right after the launch of the promotion campaign in Lithuani but just a handful of potential customers had actually applied for the service so far.
