In May, 15.3 million euros were paid to Nukem for the works carried out in the spent nuclear fuel storage facility project, known as B1, INPP spokeswoman, Natalija Survila, told BNS.

On Wednesday, a request to transfer further 7.6 million euros to Nukem was sent to the EBRD, she added.

According to her, this payment concluded a break of more than one year. Some 5.6 million euros were paid to Nukem in February 2012 and no more money was transferred until May this year.

A total of 119.8 million euros was paid to Nukem within the framework of B1 project until February 2012.

According to Survila, 67.3 million euros had been paid for the construction of the solid radioactive waste storage facility complex, known as B/2/3/4, thus far.

The consortium of Nukem Technologies, which is controlled by Russia's energy giant Rosatom, and GNS is implementing multi-billion-litas decommissioning projects at the Ignalina plant which are running years behind schedule. The companies are building a solid radioactive waste storage facility complex, known as B2/3/4, and an interim spent fuel storage facility, known as B1, initially estimated to cost 123 million euros and 193 million euros, respectively.
