Lithuania among the global leaders in the field of regulation of information communications technologies

Lithuania has been recognised as one of the best in the world according to the regulatory criteria in the field of information communications technologies (ICT), the Communications Regulatory Authority wrote in a press release.

In the ICT Regulatory Tracker 2018 report published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Lithuania’s score was 95 out of total 100 for the year 2018. For comparison – Latvia scored 90 points, Poland – 88.5, Estonia – 87.

The aim of these ITU reports is to identify the characteristics of regulatory systems of each country, allowing to reveal the present regulation gaps and stipulate the trends of ICT regulation development in the short-term. ITU evaluated the regulatory environment in each country according to 50 individual indicators classified into four clusters: supervisory authority, statutory mandate, regulatory regime, competitive framework.
