Lithuania's chances of 2015 euro adoption fifty-fifty, SEB says

Lithuania has a 50-50 chance of adopting the euro in 2015, the Scandinavian financial group SEB, which owns Lithuania's biggest bank by assets, has said in a report.

"We are uncertain, however, whether Lithuania will be able to show sufficiently and enduringly low inflation and budget deficits to achieve its 2015 membership target; its chances are 50-50," it said in its Nordic Outlook report released on Tuesday.

"Qualifying for the eurozone in 2015 will require a clear slowdown in Lithuanian inflation this year and early in 2014, as well as a budget deficit below 3 percent of GDP this year," it said.
