Lithuania’s debt purchase market calms down

The ranks of people willing to sell long-outstanding debts are not getting any thinner but the number of their buyers on Lithuania’s market is still small, the Lietuvos Žinios daily reports.

Representatives of debt buyers note that the purchase of debts has been too risky of lately and the expectations of their sellers have been inconsiderate.

Linas Kliukas, a representative of Creditreform Lietuva, confirms that the number of individuals and corporate entities eager to sell accumulated debts was not getting any smaller but the number of their buyers was low. According to him, the company has found out during the past two years that the risks of those activities are too high since seller expect to recover 70 percent, and sometimes as much as 90 percent, of the debt while there are no guarantees that the debt can be recovered successfully.
