Ukraine’s market currently offered excellent possibilities for Lithuania’s consultancies with a good knowledge of how to use the European Union’s (EU) funds, Rimantas Šėgžda, Lithuania’s commercial attaché in Ukraine, told the daily.

“Ukraine’s situation is now similar to Lithuania’s back in 2003. It declares a wish to join the EU, which is providing large funds for the authorities’ training and various other projects already. Ukraine doesn’t know how to manage this and it trusts us. Moreover, many Lithuanians don’t have a language barrier. Therefore, there is a lot of work for our consultancies now,” he said.

Šėgžda believes that Lithuania’s furniture manufacturers, food and engineering companies could establish themselves in Ukraine successfully. He also sees numerous possibilities in the agricultural sector. Restaurant and hotel business could be developed in Kiev. Ukraine’s market also looked promising for Lithuania’s tourism companies, the attaché said.
