Over the last three years, the president has already invested at least 1.37 million litas (around EUR 0.4 million).
It is not known how much the president invested this year, as pursuant to the existing rules, there is no obligation to identify the value of transactions in interest declarations of private individuals, published on the website of the Chief Official Ethics Commission.
"The president regularly invests into government bonds as she has trust in her state. Following changes to the rules and form of declarations of private interests, the value of transactions in declarations is no longer made public," according to a statement by the Press Service of the President.
In June 2010, Grybauskaitė invested over 100,000 litas and another 503,441 litas in July of the same year. In March of the following year, the president lent at least 100,000 litas to the state and invested twice last year – 515,000 and over 150,000 litas. The president's total investments might range from 1.37 million to 1.52 million litas.
In the final quarter of 2012, the Lithuanian president's average salary before tax stood at 24,750 litas.
