The 2012-2021 plan is in line with legislation, the Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan (BEMIP), the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity's (ENTSO-E) development plan and the country's energy independence strategy, the National Control Commission for Prices and Energy said on Friday.
The plan earmarks 827 million litas for the Lithuanian-Swedish interconnection project NordBalt, and 622 million litas and 380 million litas for the Lithuanian-Polish interconnection projects LitPol Link 1 and LitPol Link 2, respectively.
Another 455 million litas will go to prepare the national electricity system for operation in a synchronous mode with continental European networks.
The plan also provides for investments in information technologies and telecommunications projects, and in projects for improving the reliability of the transmission grid.
Litgrid is to invest 2.802 billion litas, with the remaining 236 million litas to be contributed by large electricity producers and privately-owned companies.
