"I can tell you now that these salaries will definitely rise this year. But how much and based on which principles they will be raised is still unclear at this point. I think we won't be able to get back to he pre-crisis level for a long time," he told BNS.
According to Šadžius, the Ministry of Finance calculates and analyzes figures received from various institutions and uses them to decide on how much civil servants' salaries, cut in 2009, might be raised.
Salaries for civil servants in Lithuania are calculated by multiplying the so-called basic salary and special coefficients. The basic salary was cut to 450 litas (EUR 130) from 490 litas in 2009 as part of wide-ranging austerity measures.
