President Dalia Grybauskaitė: Cooperation with EIB will help reduce Lithuania's energy dependence

President Dalia Grybauskaitė says that the European Investment Bank's 87-million-euro loan for Lithuania's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal project, which is being carried out by Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėda Oil), will help increase the country's energy independence.

"According to the head of state, the bank's contribution to the construction of the LNG terminal will help reduce Lithuania's dependence on one supplier and ensure lower prices for consumers," the president's office said in a press release on Wednesday after Grybauskaitė's meeting with EIB President Werner Hoyer in Vilnius.

According to the president, successful cooperation with the EIB is important for Lithuania both in developing infrastructure projects and in securing energy independence, it said.
