Qatar is only waiting for decisions from Lithuania - such is the message brought home by a Lithuanian business delegation that attended the World Chambers Congress and met with Qatar's officials.

"They wanted to know if Lithuania had already decided from whom it would buy liquefied natural gas and reiterated that Qatar could supply gas to us," Algimantas Akstinas, the director general of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, told the website.

It was reported earlier that Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėda Oil), the developer of Lithuania's LNG terminal project, had started two-way gas supply talks with Qatargas, the world's biggest LNG supplier.

"We can't name any concrete countries at the moment, but the tender is ongoing and talks are being held with suppliers which have expressed their wish to participate," Indrė Milinienė, a spokeswoman for Klaipėdos Nafta, told Eversus.lt.

According to information available to the website, Qatar prefers direct negotiations and says that it will not participate in the bidding process together with other potential suppliers.
