„Today we are announcing a new route from Vilnius to Kiev. This is an important route for us. The launch date is Jul. 5,“ Gyorgy Abran, Wizz Air's chief commercial officer, said at a news conference in Vilnius on Thursday.

The airline is planning to operate flights on this route four times a week, he said.

The Hungarian carrier will compete with Utair Ukraine and Ukraine International Airlines, which are planning to start flying passengers between the Lithuanian and Ukrainian capitals in late March.

Wizz Air says that it handled almost 500,000 passengers at Vilnius Airport last year.
