Energy Minister Jaroslav Neverovič has signed a decree to dismiss Jurkšus as of next Tuesday, Daiva Rimašauskaitė, an advisor to the minister, tells BNS.

"Under the energy minister's decree, Žilvinas Jurkšus is being dismissed from his office as managing director of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, effective from February 5. Until a new CEO is appointed through competition, Vigantas Galkauskas, the director of the Decommissioning Department, will serve as acting CEO," she said.

Jurkšus, an information technologies specialist, took over as the plant's CEO from Osvaldas Ciuksys in late April 2011. He had worked as an expert for Ignalina NPP since the end of 2010.
