In her words, the meeting was one of the issue discussed on Monday by President Dalia Grybauskaitė and foreign ambassadors accredited to Lithuania.
"First of all, heads of government and state from all EU member states as well as leaders from the Eastern Partnership countries who are allowed to enter the EU are expected," Neliupšienė told journalists after the Monday meeting.
"The invitations will be most probably sent in early fall but arrangements are already being made through diplomatic channel, if not to receive confirmations then at least to reserve preliminary dates on leaders' agendas," the adviser said.
Neliupšienė also said that, at the meeting with ambassadors, the president highlighted that 2013 "is a historically important year for Lithuania."
"We will take over the EU Presidency in the second half and will need help from all countries in the EU," the adviser said.
Commenting on the forthcoming EU Presidency, the president paid particular attention to talks on the EU's new budget and energy issues.
"There are priorities we have and know today. These also include financial discipline adjusted against economic growth, and if we manage to agree on the financial perspective, the EU's seven-year budget, in February, then Lithuania will have to further hold talks on the implementation of specific legal acts. These include the internal-energy-market-related issues, which are especially important for our region, the Baltic Sea strategy and the Eastern Partnership summit we all are preparing very responsibly for at the moment," Neliupšienė said.
