"Following the removal of unfounded restrictions to render service in the entire EU, which some countries still have in place, more opportunities for both businesses and people would open up. Lithuania's goal is to seek countries' agreement on proper implementation of the Services Directive in all EU member states," Grybauskaitė said in a statement.
Proper implementation of the Services Directive would add around 2.6 percent to GDP growth.
On Tuesday in Vilnius, the issue was discussed by the Lithuanian president and visiting representatives of the European Parliament's Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection.
Following the meeting, Grybauskaitė said Lithuania would seek to initiate Council discussions and the adoption of conclusions on the common market integration in December. During the EU presidency, Lithuania also plans to seek progress in the implementation of a common digital market. Lithuania will also seek to finalize negotiations on the e-signature and posting of workers.
The common market includes 500 million consumers and 21 million companies.
