"We are looking forward to the Lithuanian presidency, we see that Lithuania is well-prepared for the presidency; however, Europe is faced with enormous challenges and is not in a very good situation at the moment. We hope that the European Parliament in cooperation with the Lithuanian parliament and governments help Europe make some progress," Schulz said after meeting with Parliamentary Speaker Vydas Gedvilas in Vilnius on Friday.
Lithuania will take over EU Council presidency on July 1 for six months.
