Capital’s government concerned: given a serious accident in Astravyets, there would be nowhere to evacuate Vilnius residents

Vilnius municipality is planning an exercise on September 5, during which it will drill in evacuating the city’s residents. The exercise is intended in case an accident occurred in Astravyets Nuclear Power Plant. The Ministry of Interior Affairs (VRM) expressed discontent with the idea because a state-wide exercise of a similar manner is planned for October and Vilnius is apparently not faced with a real threat. Nevertheless, the capital’s government is concerned because it is unknown, where Vilnius residents would have to be evacuated.
