Vilnius-based Polish diplomats should soon move to new embassy premises in central Vilnius, as there are plans to reconstruct the Pac Palace.

The Polish embassy's spokeswoman Malgorzata Mozyro-Galan told BNS on Monday Vilnius Municipality had authorized in February construction and restoration works at the 17-century Pac Palace. The building's modernization plan was drafted back in 2010.

"The present stage is the call for tenders for the construction and restoration of the Pac Palace in Vilnius. (…) It will be a European public tender," the spokeswoman said.

Mozyro-Galan, however, could not specify when the work would start and when Polish diplomats would move to the new premises.

At the moment Polish diplomats are scattered over several locations in Vilnius.

Polish news agency PAP reported last week that construction work at the Pac Palace in Vilnius was scheduled to start this year. The new premises will accommodate the Polish embassy, the Consulate General and the Polish Institute.
