During the rescue operation, around 150 people were taken off the ice floe near Nida, and another 40 near Preila, the Ministry of National Defense announced on Friday.
Vesta Flick, spokeswoman of the State Border Guard Service, told BNS on Friday there had been no reports of injured or drowned people.
It was reported initially that over 100 people were on the ice flow. But it emerged later that the number was higher, and another group of people was stuck on an ice floe near Preila. They were also rescued.
