Weigel, an American, is the author of one of the most popular biographies of the holy father titled Pope John Paul II.

The 20-year anniversary of the papal visit to Lithuania will be celebrated on September 4-10. A program of events was approved by the Seimas board on Wednesday.

Pope John Paul II was in Lithuania on September 4-8, 1993, on what was the first and only papal visit in the Baltic state.
