Chairman of Lithuania's Chief Official Ethics Commission resigns

Chairman of Lithuania's Chief Official Ethics Commission, Remigijus Rekerta, has announced his resignation citing personal reasons.

"Yes, I am resigning," Rekerta told BNS on Monday.

Rekerta said he handed in copies of his letter of resignation to Speaker of the Seimas Irena Degutienė and Chairman of the Supreme Court Gintaras Kryzevičius last week. Rekerta was appointed upon the assent of the latter.

"I handed in my letter of resignation last week and now the Seimas will decide," Rekerta said.

Rekerta was appointed chairman of the Chief Official Ethics Commission in May 2010.
