Prosecutor Linas Kuprusevičius told BNS the bail was the same for both suspects, adding it should be paid by Monday. Prosecutors said there was no need to ask court for an arrest sanction.

"They both have jobs and permanent places of residence, they have no previous criminal records," the prosecutor added. In his words, a bail was among the stricter supervision measures.

According to delfi.lt news portal, Karosas and the accountant should be released on bail of 50,000 litas (EUR 15,000) each.

The two men were detained by officers of the Special Investigation Service on Thursday morning on the suspicion of offering a 30,000-litas bribe to a bankruptcy administrator.

Pleads innocence

"I am innocent. Indeed, I knew nothing about any bribe. I was detained because the Special Investigation Service is carrying out a probe, however, I never handed any bribe," alfa.lt news portal cited Karosas as saying.

The businessman said the bribe to a bankruptcy administrator was handed by director of one of his companies.
