According to Laluna, the incident occurred at about 1 PM local time on Tuesday some four nautical miles from the gate.
Arvydas Narmontas, chief of the Port Maintenance Service, says a small fishing boat crashed into a standing Estonian cargo ship. Captain of the fishing boat was later found to have high blood alcohol levels.
"We received a report about a fishing boat crashing into an Estonian ship laying at anchor. An inspector and safe navigation people were dispatched to the scene. They inspected everything and established that the captain was drunk, we instructed that the ship should be sent back to the port" Narmontas said.
In his words, the police established that the captain's blood contained 2.71 per mille of alcohol.
Narmontas said both ships had incurred minor damage. The Estonian ship had a dent to its body, it will finish loading and depart on Wednesday. The fishing boat has damage to its front part.
An investigation has been launched.
In Narmontas' words, ship accidents in the port are reported about once a year.
