Europe House opening in Vilnius

Europe House is opening in central Vilnius on Friday. It will accommodate the mission of the European Commission (EC), the Information Bureau of the European Parliament (EP), and the European Institute of Gender Equality.

The event will be attended by President Dalia Grybauskaitė, EP President Martin Schulz, and European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding.

Natalija Kazlauskienė, the head of the EC mission in Lithuania, the main objective of the Europe House will be to build a democratic and open environment for an active dialogue about Europe with citizens, institutions, and organizations.

In the run-up to Lithuania's presidency over the European Union (EU) Council and EP elections, a higher degree of visibility and accessibility of EU institution is highly important, Kazlauskienė said.

The Europe House will feature an 85-seat conference hall for seminars, discussions, and events of the Lithuanian EU Council presidency.
