Former president of Lithuanian Football Federation assaulted in Kaunas

Liutauras Varanavičius, former president of the Lithuanian Football Federation, was assaulted in Kaunas, Lithuania's second biggest city, on Thursday night.

Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat says that unidentified young men attacked Varanavičius at 9:25 PM. He was released home from hospital after receiving medical help.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Varanavičius, 43, was the president of the Lithuanian Football Federation between 2000 and 2012.
