Half of Vilnius-based Belorussian Humanities University graduates live in Belarus

Nearly half of those who graduated from the Vilnius-based European Humanities University (EHU) live in Belarus, shows a poll carried out by the university.

According to the press release, 49 percent of respondents who finished the university in 2011 said they lived in Belarus, while 18 said they lived in Lithuania and another 18 percent in other countries.

Among the class of 2010, 49 percent said they lived in Belarus, while the figure of the class of 2009 was 40 percent. About 15 percent of respondents of 2009 and 2010 classes said they lived in Lithuania and 19 percent said their country of residence was elsewhere.

According to the press release, the survey interviewed more than 85 percent of classes of 2010 and 2011, as well as 71 percent of the class of 2009.

According to the university, about 2,000 students currently enrolled in EHU reside in Belarus and do distance education. About 700 students live and attend lectures in the Lithuanian capital.

Founded in Minsk in 1992, European Humanities University has been based in Vilnius since 2004.
