According to the report, the fewest drug-related deaths were confirmed in Romania (1) and Hungary (2) in 2011.
Europe's average death rate caused by overdose stands at 18 per 1 million residents of the 15-64 age group.
Although there is no data to prove it, scientists say that a number of drug addicts die of liver diseases, mainly hepatitis C. Accidents, murders and suicides are also among causes of death of drug addicts.
