Lithuania offers better child raising conditions than neighboring countries

Lithuania can offer better conditions for raising a child than neighboring Latvia, Poland, and Russia, the annual survey by Save the Children, which is published on Tuesday, shows.

This year, Lithuania and Belarus both rank 26th among 176 countries. Poland (28), Luxembourg (29), the United States (30), Japan, and Korea (31) slightly lag behind Lithuania.

Estonia (21) scored best among the Baltic states. Latvia ranks 38th and Russia is 59th.

The survey by the London-based organization took into account maternal and infant mortality rates as well as education conditions, income, and the political situation.

The top four countries to raise kids are Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. Meanwhile, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, and Sierra Leone are at the bottom of the list.
