Doctors in Lithuania are just starting to test the new method in treating prostate and kidney cancer.

Adamkus said he made fast recovery and returned to his work in Lithuania.

Changes in his kidney were discovered during a regular health check-up in Vilnius.

“We noticed structural changes of the left kidney. We agreed with the president's opinion to hear the opinion of US colleagues on the matter. As we know, the president visited an American hospital, had a CT scan there. We had sent our test results there. Our ideas were the same as those of the colleagues, and the problem was solved,” the president's physician Remigijus Nargėla said.

"I exercised the opportunity to have my health checked in the United States, in institutions, such as North Western University hospital, which uses the latest equipment. The test results were very good. I spent four weeks there. I am not only talking to you in an energetic manner, I am working on going back to my routine, get moving, ride my bicycle, etc. I feel fine, full of ideas and energy,” said Adamkus who was Lithuania's president in 1998-2003 and 2004-2009.
