Subsequently, the position of prime minister's chancellor will be renamed as government chancellor.

Minister of the Interior Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas, who initiated the amendments, said has said the changes are related to internal reforms at the Chancellery. The new name will better reflect the purpose and function of the institution, he said.

In January, the Seimas adopted relevant amendments to the Law on the Government, and ministers adopted a relevant resolution during the Wednesday sitting.

The Chancellery of the Government was renamed as the Office of the Prime Minister in 2009 under the center-right government of Andrius Kubilius.
