94 bomb disposal operations have been carried out this year during which 62 cannon-shots, 13 aviation bombs, 27 mortar grenades, 13 manual grenades and 44 items of other explosive devises were disposed, Lithuania's Ministry of National Defense said on Friday.

The majority of calls about bombs were received from the port of Klaipėda, western Lithuania, Švenčionys District, eastern Lithuania, and Kaunas District, central Lithuania.

"Usually the bomb disposal season starts in April and, depending on weather conditions, lasts until November. But quite a number of explosives were found this winter, with calls received almost every week," the ministry said.

Bomb disposal specialists warn people against touching an explosive device in case they find one, but mark the place, warn people around and call the emergency number.

Explosives from World War I and II are often found in Lithuania.
