According to the Customs Criminal Service, a dog was used during the inspection of outgoing vehicles, and it responded to one of them, carrying peaches from Spain. The vehicle, driven by a Lithuanian national, was inspected with an x-ray control system that detected hidden compartments under the flooring. Tests of unidentified brown substance found inside were taken, and the substance was later identified as hashish.

Over 400 kilos of hashish were taken out of the hidden compartments. Officers say this amount of hashish is worth around LTL 15 million on the black market.

Officers detained the driver at the scene, and his arrest for two months was later sanctioned.

Vilnius Unit of the Customs Criminal Officer launched a pre-trial investigation into smuggling and disposal of a large quantity of drugs.
