The center said a total of 62 new documents have been uploaded on the website, revealing KGB agency and operational measures applied against foreign tourists, as well as examination and spying of the tourists. The published documents also witness inclusion of agents and reliable individuals into tourist groups going on foreign trips, as well as control of the groups.
For instance, 165 groups of 5,065 individuals traveled from Lithuania to the so-called capitalist, socialist and developing countries in 1978–1979. The groups included 21 KGB staff members, 182 agents and 312 reliable persons for the purpose of “counter-intelligence support” of the tourists. Some 281 individuals were excluded from the groups by the KGB due to what it said was "weak political readiness."
