The incident took place at around 9:30 PM on Friday. A group of men entered a café owned by Andy Hernande, 54, and assaulted him and the café's female director, 39. They were both later taken to hospital.

"The pre-trial investigation into the incident was launched on Friday. One person has been detained and taken into custody," Valerij Vincukevič, chief of Trakai District Police Commissariat, told BNS, adding that the detainee was well-known to the police.

Zana Sokolovska, prosecutor in charge of the investigation, told BNS suspicions against the detainee were brought on Monday.

Hernandez filmed the assault with his mobile phone and the video was posted online. It shows one of the assailants cursing the café's staff.

"Every piece of evidence will be evaluated and is not rejected," Vincukevič said when asked if police had seen the video.

The news website lrytas.lt reports that Stanislovas Narkevičius, aka Narkuša, is related to the assault. Asked to confirm the fact, Sokolovska said: "We are still determining it."
