The petition was handed over by nine supporters of Tibet's freedom who came to the President's Office with flags of Tibet.
"We do not demand much, we just want the Tibet issue to appear on the EU agenda, so that China is reminded about the problems in Tibet and that the Chinese administration is addressed on the official level," Vytis Vydūnas, the organizer of the campaign, told BNS.
In his words, the EU should call for negotiations on "Tibet's actual autonomy, Tibetan culture and its unique nature."
The Dalai Lama, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, is scheduled to arrive in Vilnius on Wednesday afternoon from Latvia.
This is his third visit in Lithuania.
