"We were given a verbal update on the report under preparation, the report on threats will be available in a few weeks. As soon as we receive it, we will follow last year's tradition to publicize a certain part of the report," Paulauskas told journalists on Tuesday.

At a closed meeting on Tuesday, the State Security Department provided information on the needs of intelligence information, implementation of the Intelligence Law, and annual assessment of threats.

Last June, the department published a public summary of the 2011 operational report for the first time. Before, the department's annual reports would be discussed and evaluated at the committee's meetings behind closed doors.

Published for the first time in history, the summary spoke about efforts to instigate ethnic, social, and ideological hatred through public and political organizations in Lithuania from abroad, and the operations of foreign intelligence services will become even stronger in later years. According to the report, efforts of foreign states to impede the implementation of strategic energy projects is likely to continue in 2012.
