"The maximum number of police officers will be employed during the period to ensure road safety. Pre-planned targeted measures will be used to allow police officers to employ all necessary technical means for an indefinite period of time in order to indentify breaches of traffic rules," the Police Department said on Thursday.

217 traffic accidents have been registered on Via Baltic this year, including 39 accidents involving casualties. 15 people were killed and 51 were injured in these accidents.

The action will be carried out from 17 September until 17 October.
