Urbonas, 55, started his swim at 7 a.m. on Thursday and finished at 7:15 p.m., lrytas.lt news portal reported.
Accompanied by 20 ships, the Lithuanian covered about 35 km to Lucerne.
A relay swim took place in the lake at the same time, therefore, a group of Swiss swimmers took turns to swim with Urbonas.
The swim is part of Urbonas' project Water is Life, which is aimed at urging countries to cherish the natural treasure.
In the framework of the project, Urbonas has set a goal of swimming across the highest or largest freshwater lakes in the five continents. In 2009, he conquered Lake Titicaca in South America (37 km), swimming across Lake Yellowstone (16 km) in North America in 2010, Lake Baikal (47 km) in Asia in 2011, Lake Tasmania (21 km) in Australia in 2012 and Lake Tana (49 km) in Africa in January of 2013.
