"The number of our members in Kaunas is decreasing fast. There are 260 members in our organization. More than a hundred of them no longer walk. The average age of veterans of the war that ended 67 years ago is around 90. Over the last two years, around 70 members of our organization have passed away. We receive sad news about the death of a former soldier every week," Virginija Židonienė, chairwoman of WWII veterans in Kaunas, told the daily.

Around 200 veterans gathered in Kaunas on Wednesday to mark the Victory Day.
