People are invited to sign a letter to President Dalia Grybauskaitė over the EU's and other international organizations' support and assistance to the resolution of Tibet's problems and efforts to ensure human rights and freedoms in the Chinese region, Tibet's supporters say.
Over the first four days, more than 1,700 signatures have been collected.
The signatures will be handed over to the president to draw Europe's attention during the Lithuanian EU presidency to the difficult situation in Tibet where over 100 people have self-immolated in protest against the Beijing regime since 2009.
None of Lithuania's top leaders plan to meet with the Dalai Lama during his visit in Lithuania on September 11-14. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė will be in Brussels at the time.
The Dalai Lama, 78, is coming to Lithuania at the invitation of the Seimas' Tibet Support Group.
A recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, the 14th Dalai Lama will pay a visit to Lithuania in the framework of his tour of the Baltic states and the Czech Republic.
It will be his third visit to Lithuania after trips in 1991 and 2001.
The Dalai Lama used to be Tibet's political leader, but gave up the post two years ago.
Lithuania officially considers Tibet part of China, but joins the European Union's (EU) call for peaceful regulation of the relations between the Chinese administration and Tibet's spiritual leader Dalai Lama and his representatives.
