Slogans "Lithuania for Lithuanians" heard at rally of nationalist youth

On Lithuania's Re-establishment of Statehood Day on 16 February, a crowd of young people referring to themselves as patriots held a rally on Kaunas' central Laisvės Avenue, chanting "Lithuania for Lithuanians" and "Lithuania for Children of Lithuania."

Hundreds of young people dressed in national costumes held national flags and slogans along Laisvės Avenue, with a handful of skinheads carrying Lithuanian flags also reported among the participants.

Older or even elderly people joined the group, which was closely watched by police officers escorting the rally that was organized by the Lithuanian Union of National Youth.
