Judge Stasys Lemezis said the court ruling was, among other things, based on the fact that the charges of unlawful acquisition of properties were dropped in Russia.

"The court found no reasons to bring Khardikov to criminal justice," Lemezis said.

An appeal against the ruling can be filed within 20 days.

Vilnius prosecutors wanted Khardikov sent to prison for a year.
