Vilnius to start construction of presidential burial site

The construction of a presidential burial site should be started at Antakalnio Cemetery in Vilnius on Monday, the Vilniaus Diena daily reports.

19 burial places, a tree alley, and flagged paths should be installed by 1 December.

The Ministry of Culture has earmarked LTL 365,000 (over EUR 100,000) for the project. Vilnius Municipality is in charge of the construction.

"All in all, 19 burial places are planned. (…) The whole work should be finished by 1 December 2012," Irena Mikalauskienė of Vilnius Municipality said.
