EU General Court rejects candidacy of Lithuanian judge

After the European Union's (EU) committee rejected the candidacy of Lithuanian lawyer Asta Dambrauskaitė for a judge at the EU General Court, Lithuania is to look for another candidate for the post.

The Justice Ministry confirmed to BNS that a special EU committee gave a negative response in connection to Dambrauskaitė, a candidate approved by the Lithuanian parliament, government, and president.

At the meeting on Wednesday, Lithuania's government plans to set up a task force for to select new candidates for the post.

The term of Lithuania's judge Vilėnas Vadapalas at the Luxembourg-based court is due to expire on August 31.
